Dhulikhel: Nepali Congress leader, Dr. Shekhar Koirala, has emphasized the importance of adhering to the ideals and principles of BP Koirala (Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala) to strengthen the party and government. Speaking at a conference organized by the BP Study Youth Circle in Dhulikhel, he cautioned against the erosion of party credibility due to arrogance in leadership.

Dr. Koirala noted that the current political climate seemed to promote individualistic, selfish, and communal behaviors that run counter to BP Koirala's ideology. He urged both the party and the government to move away from such traits and return to the values of collectivism.

He stressed the need for the full implementation of federalism to strengthen the country and advocated for empowering provinces by decentralizing authority from the central government. Dr. Koirala also highlighted the importance of youth vigilance in protecting social harmony in the Koshi Province against divisive efforts carried out in the name of religion.

Madhu Acharya, a central member of the Nepali Congress, expressed concerns about deviations from the party's ideology and how they hinder progress. She credited BP Koirala's legacy to his clear thinking, strong leadership, and competence.

Guru Ghimire, another party leader, lamented that the country was regressing because the leadership underestimated the potential of the new generation. While Nepali youths were making their mark in foreign lands, many citizens in the country were disillusioned with the government's performance.

Ranjit Karna, former president of the Nepal Student Union, criticized the Nepali Congress for its performance at all levels of government. He highlighted the need for better delivery of services by the party.

Bhupendra Jung Shahi, a youth leader, explained that the BP thought conference was organized to address the lack of awareness about BP Koirala's thoughts and principles among the younger generation. The event aimed to reconnect with and uphold the enduring values and principles of BP Koirala in contemporary Nepali politics.
